V70 XC 2000 - Aux Fan Issue - newbie
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been on others for my Vanagon for over a year. I found that expierence from other owners of like cars can lead to resolving issues without too much pain.
I have a 2000 V70 XC 215,000 miles, I have changed the Aux Fan Temp Switch, the Aux Fan itself and also checked the relay. The dealer told me it was a bad aux fan, so I purchased a new one for $425 and installed it in 45 minutes. The problem is, the fan still does not come on. So, I broke open the relay, and hooked it up to the old fan (should have done this first), and then manually moved over the relay, bingo - the old fan fired up (both low and high speed), so the fan wasn't bad! Now, I took my volt meter to the two center leads, and while the car is running, I get 3.59 volts being sent to the relay... It seems to low, and wondered what could be causing this low voltage issue. Yes, I changed the aux fan switch, and coolant level sensor first. Any thoughts???
Thanks for your help!

Hi Jack,
Greetings from Yokohama, Japan.
I'm sorry about the problem. It may have been recalled so you may want to check that out.
As I'm an 850 driver, I'm not privy to V70s. Post this question in the V70 forum for better & more accurate replies.
I wish you luck,
JPN
