Manually Controlled Aux Fan conversion
Greetings -- was hoping someone could look my situation over and let me know if I have all my bases covered. Not very experienced, especially with electrical stuff. A little lengthy, so please disregard unless you're keen on giving a newbie some pointers.
My Problem: 1991 Volvo 240 -- the AC and feels great while driving down the road at a good speed, but when I'm sitting at a stop light, the AC starts to feel warmer and the Temp gauge begins to rise (and will go just about in to the red if I hit a few stop lights in a row without getting up to speed in between them). It appears my auxiliary fan (in front of the radiator) is not coming on.
I'm not sure if the problem is the fan itself, or the relay. I ordered a new relay, so that will be replaced soon. I may have to replace the whole fan, but regardless, I'd like to set the fan to a manual toggle switch that I'd mount somewhere on the dash.
I am about to order this: JEGS Electric Fan Wiring Harness Kits -- and a switch to tie it to: Large 30 Amp SPST Lighted Rocker Switch
Will this more than likely solve my problem? I've already replaced the Fan Clutch with a Tropical Heavy Duty version -- which may not have been necessary, but the AC does feel colder. Do I need to get any other kind of wire for that switch? Or does it only need the one (yellow) wire from the JEGS kit? Anyone else done something like this?
Swiftjustice44 sent me a good article about wiring the aux fan to the AC switch, but I thought putting it on its own switch sounded like a good idea.

LOL...there's nothing wrong with your car...it is the design. That fan is an overheat fan...it is not wired to be an auxiliary fan to lower head pressures and increase your a/c efficiency. I'll include a link to a fairly descriptive step by step on how to link the fan w/ the compressor. When the compressor is on, the fan will run. If you wish to do a manual fan switch, I find it best to use the coil as a voltage source for signal voltage to the required relay. That way, the fan will not run w/ key off. Here's the link...It's for a 740, but your 93 has the accumulator just the same.
