Hi I just bought a 2005 S40 and it came with one key fob minus the valet key and the little sliding lock for the valet key, the dealership tossed in a complete key for a 2006 S40 as well. I am trying to save money and not spend a ton at the dealership, is there a way to program the 06 key for use? I would like to switch all the inner parts from the 05 remote to the 06 remote because it is not damaged. Would this work?

As well I am looking to get an additional key made does anyone know an estimated amount I have to look forward to. I have read it will be between 230 and 300.00 for that alone.

Did they "toss in" a used key? You can swap the board and the remote will work but it won't start.

Key programming is one hour labor plus software. You can have the dealer try to program the used key. If it doesn't work, you're still on the hook for the labor and software so you might as well do it right and get a new one at that time.
