Volvo for life!!!
Hello everyone in the forum my name is Jorge I being with VOLVOS for the past 18 years or so.
Started with a 1986 240 GL wagon bought it with 11.000 miles on 1987, this car was for my wife, at that time I owned a SAAB 900 five speed nice car. In 1991 we added a member to our family my son Matt, my wife started to transport our newborn everywhere on a daily basis between doctor appointments, hospitals, play days with friends etc… In 1995 Matt turned 5 years old, we planned a trip to Disney in Florida. After returning home from the trip my wife’s 240 GL turned 131,000 miles, doing the math on average repairs and maintenance costs during eight years on her 240 GL we came out to a total of 250 dollars per year “NOT BAD” or we were very lucky.
Guess what guys? I went back to my nearest Volvo dealer and acquired a new vehicle for me; a nice Red 1993 850 GLT loaded reading 20,000 miles on it.
The sad part for us was last January when we had to get rid of my wife’s 240, the car was too old and the engine was not running well, anyway our wagon got us around for the total 325,000 miles with no major problems.
Now we own a nice 02 XC70 and I hope that it will be another 240 experience, oh yeah my Red Volvo has 130,000 miles now.
