Volvo v70 2.4 petrol yr 2000 sluggish

Hi I have just bought a Volvo v70 with a fault car revs OK when still from cold but when you set off ie engine under load very sluggish really slow on pick up till gets warm then goes OK but still not 100% any body any ideas thanks Bruce

any check engine light codes? Does the temp gauge seem to read normal? how do the plugs look?
