What should I do?
I have my Volvo V40 Bifuel for 12 years and I have always been happy with her she had 93000 miles on the clock when bought at two years old and now has 223000. She has possibly had about a thousand pound spent on her over the years with works etc. but she is now needing her clutch looking at again as it has about 20% left in it and I don't know if the £300+ is worth spending or should I sell her for scrap/parts. She owes me nothing and she has never let me down but . . . If some one could advise I would appreciate it as I have no idea and no one else to ask.
Cheers

I have a '95 850T Wagon, owned since new with about 200K miles on it. I have a similar dilemma as its coming up for a new timing belt... I started looking around for the value of the car and realized the market is asking $500 for parts cars with blown head gaskets and the like... So I've decided to keep the car and do the timing belt (and the heater core and a few bushings) knowing the car is probably good for other 100K if I keep it in good repair. It's a third car, driven for errands and will probably be off to college (again). I've always kept up with the tune, the oil etc so the car runs well.
So - to your interests: 1) whats the car worth assuming you fix the clutch? 2) how do you use it (I totally get that if its a daily driver you can lose confidence in the car and worry about having to fix more parts to get to work etc) 3) how well maintained is the rest of the car? If its well maintained (particularly if you've been using synthetic oil), there's no reason to think you can't expect another 3-5 years of service. 300K+ miles is not unheard of on Volvo's owned by DIY mechanics.
