Default Whinning Noise

I have a 1998 Volvo V70XCO Wagon, It has 115,000 mi. I have not driven it for months. I heard no noise in the Fall but when temperture is very cold I can hear a whining noise at all speeds for 8 mi.or so. Any info on this would be helpful.

Thank You,

Walter

Where does the noise originate? Under the hood, transmission, wheels? Need some more details. High pitch, low scrape? Whirr or whine?

Hello Walter,

Greetings from Chicagoland.

As satchmodog has noted, a bit more detail would help narrow down the problem.

Not having to drive your car for months is not a very good deal. The engine does not receive oil recirculation and moisture may find its way into the fuel system, etc... Try running the engine at least 5 minutes a week, as well as the A/C.

This has nothing to do with the noise, but I would change the oil & filter, and put a bottle of dry gas (commonly known as fuel-system antifreeze, whatever is good as long as it's isopropyl alcohol).

To get more accurate replies, try posting your question in the V70 section. I drive 850, so I'm not familiar with V70.

Best wishes,

JPN
