I called a glass place to get a new windshield.
They asked me if I had a sensors in my windshield.
I've never been asked this before.
I told him I just need glass in between me and the outside.
He laughed and said if he didn't replace it with another piece of
glass that also had sensors (assuming mine might) it could
make things not work, like brakes.
When did getting a new windshield become so difficult? I've never been asked this before.
How do I know if my 2009 XC90 has sensors?
Newer Volvos have "city safety" - a camera in the windshield (some cars) applies the brakes to prevent a collision. (actually the camera does not apply the brakes but is needed for that system to work!) Don't remember when first offered but I thought it was after 2009. Look at your windshield in the rear view mirror area - the cameras are mounted behind mirror looking through the windshield.
Rain sensing wipers are an option, those sensors are in the same area. It's possible your car has those. If you have button #2 on your wiper switch you have rain sensing wipers.
