Just thought I'd run this by everyone, I'm in the waiting period for getting my ECU replaced and/or re-programmed, since I seem to be having surging or lack of power issues under heavy load.

So, once that is done, I'd like to looking into the cheapest way to get HP, before moving into the larger upgrades.

Could anyone share what they've done, costs, results, etc.?

1. You need to SEARCH, you wont learn anything unless you search first. And don't just search this website, check out http://www.volvospeed.com (Do not ask this over there, search first).

2. What is your budget like?

3. What is your Hp goal?

4. Look up what STAGE 0 is on Volvospeed do this first.

5. Have a custom local muffler shop make you 3" downpipes to a 2.5" catback system with free flowing muffler like Magnaflow. Make sure they can mandrel bend.

6. Have an ECU upgraded to something aftermarket.

-IPD
-EST
-BSR
-RICA
-Upsolute
-SpeedTuning USA

Check these companies out.

7. This will net you some nice power.

Now if you want some more extreme ideas...

1. Bigger turbos

2. Custom FMIC

3. Bigger injectors

4. Another custom tune from one of the ECU companies listed above, check them all out in depth.

5. Nitrous, but be careful don't do this unless you know the ins and outs of it.

Do not use a MBC, ME7 cars do not like MBC's. If you want to raise boost get a ECU upgrade from either IPD, EST, RICA, Upsolute, SpeedTuning USA, BSR.

I have been searching, and I think I've found about every site that you guys have listed... I just haven't seen too many with an '02 S80 and some of the sites don't seem too specific to my model & year unless I start to dig and ask questions. I'm not ready to make any huge investment at this point as I'm not aware of the what stock even feels like, since I'm awaiting the upgrade.

However, I'm always looking for more, whether it's my motorcycle, truck, or now the Volvo... man I love this car so far.

I am a member, and if I had know of "stage 0" then I would have searched for it.

I have now and I'm moving forward with the schedule maint. and then looking to get some details from Skywriter in his S80, that's a thing of beauty!

Boost gauge any suggestions on placement without the pilar cluster?

 

Try the vent to the left of the steering wheel. Try a custom steering wheel mount, try some kind of cup on the dashboard.

Also if you were a member over on VS then you would have known to search all PINNED threads.

Not saying your not a member there, but you didn't search hard enough.

 

Lol at that part.....but yeah def I know personally I've learned alot more about Volvos and whatnot thanks to my internet searches and reading as well.
