Default 1990 740 Turbo Woes

The turbo in my 1990 740 Turbo Intercooler is shot - I get exactly no boost when acelerating - the unmetered dash gauge will only get up to its neutral (car off) position. That said, there is a trickle of oil in the piping from the turbo to the intake manual... I lose a quart about every 1,100 miles. Occasionally I can smell the oil burning from the exhaust. I'll replace the turbo when I can afford it, but in the meantime would there be any harm in putting a stopper in the oil feed line to the turbo? This car was severely abused by some yahoo in KS. If I do this, the turbo housing will still be cooled by the engine coolant - I just don't want the needle bearings to go supernova and sieze up on me. Thx for any advice.

Oil lubricates/cools it. water only cools it.
I wouldn't recommend it.
If you are going to block the turbo lines. just make it so the wastgate is opened, that way the turbo shouldn't spool and wouldn't need that the oil...

Wait for the experts to get on.

Default Haynes manual vsw Reality

I know that the Haynes manual for my 1990 740 turbo really only covers up to 1989. In looking at my turbo, it seems that I could remove the turbocharger without removing the exhaust manifold. The yurbo (I think its a Mitsubishi) appears mated to the exhaust manifold by 4 normal nuts, not those star-shaped weird things the HM shows. Any thoughts or guidance?

TIA
