1990 1990 740 Volvo / Idles fine, dies when given gas
Hello everyone - New on the seen, live in southern California and the wind is blowing 30 - 50mph - Yuck. My daughter has a 1990 740 Volvo that recently won't start. We can start it with starting fluid and it will idle fine, but as soon as you give some gas it dies. We have replaced the plugs, cleaned the mass airflow sensor, checked fuse #1 that was recommended to reset something with the engine, but nothing has changed - any ideas would be appreciated - Thanks

air leaks in the air path between the MAF and the intake manifold ?
since it starts with starter fluid, its probably not spark/ignition.
cleaning MAF's rarely does any good, and often can make them worse. I'd find another MAF from a working 940/240 (1989+ non-turbo, or 1990+ turbo) and swap them, see if that fixes it, if so, you need a new MAF...
