Default Electronic Boost Controller on 00' S80 T6

Will I have any problems running a EBC on a stock S80 T6 w/o an ECU re-flash? I want to get a turbo timer, and somone wants to sell me a Greddy Full-Auto Turbo Timer, and a Greddy Profec-B SpecII together for CHEAP (both for less than the cost of a new Profec-B SII alone). I wouldn't mind stepping up the boost a couple psi every once and a while, but is the car gonna freak out? I'm not used to OBD-II cars, especially not cars smarter than me like this one!! LOL! Thanks!

From what I know 99+ model Volvo's have the ME7 system and ME7 doesn't like things like this. I would suggest to raise your boost get an ECU upgrade.

if you use an electronic boost controller or a manual boost controller the amount of boost increase is what will determine if an ecu flash is needed...my s40 runs 8 psi stock, with a manual boost controller i turned it up to 10 and theres no need for an ecu flash, had i gone up to 12-15 and was running it steady like that I probably would only to get the most out of the boost increase...so it really depends, i dont know much from what s70 says about the ME7's not liking boost controllers but me and a bunch of s40 guys use them on a daily basis with no problems...

Like Tech has told me a few times s40's didn't use ME7.

Also a MBC is ok, but a safer a better route is an ECU upgrade.

how would a EBC **** it up but not an MBC? only differance is an EBC is 1 more precise, and 2 safer (my MBC broke on my old eclipse and spiked to 30psi on a stock engine (which shot it to hell))

MBC like I said on ME7 isn't good. ME7 doesn't like MBC's.

What I was saying is that using an MBC is ok but a better idea would be an ECU upgrade. So if you had to choose between the two get the ECU upgrade.

I wasn't saying use an MBC on your car.
