Default 83 240 GLT questions

i want to make sure there are absolutly no leaks anywhere in the turbo system. also what about upgrading the turbo piping?

is there anything special i need to look out for?

this is my first turbo charged vehicle. the few times i floored it, the boost gauge almost hit red, but didnt go into it. since then, i havent floored it, but have gone into boost when need be for passings n whatnot.

also what about exhaust piping? is mandrel-bent a necessity? id like to upgrade the piping and muffler, but i dont want it to sound ricey at all. what mufflers should i look into? not looking for anything insanely loud, but would like something that shows this wagon has some ***** also!

for the record, she accelerates nicely. boost feels nice and smooth when it kicks in.

oh! what about upgrading the turbo itself?

-edit-

mods, i just noticed this is in the wrong forum. can you kindly move it to the forced induction forum? thanks!

1. Mandrel bends are not needed in a turbo system. However they are highly suggested and are always used with pro racers and most car enthusiasts. Personally if your going to do something do it right and go with mandrel bends. You will be pleased and happy you did.

2. Go with mandrel bent piping 2.5" to 3" to be exact and go with a BORLA and or Magnaflow muffler. Or any other performance straight through design muffler.

3. Turbo piping do you mean the downpipe or the charge pipes? I would upgrade your downpipe to a 3" mandrel bent version.

so i found out why im smokin under high boost. there is a leak by the turbo.looks to be oil realted.

im thinking i may just replace the turbo.

where can i get a decent replacement turbo (not really looking to upgrade, just want a non-leaky turbo) as well as all the piping that goes with it?

also, where can i get a drop-in k and n air filter for this car as well? i realize im going to have to order online, so this isnt a problem.

also need replacement spark plugs and wires, ect ect. basically all the stuff for a tune up.

1. For the turbo try Erie Vo Vo or your local dealership.

2. K&N try K&N's website or even your local auto parts shop.

3. Spark plugs etc... Go to FCP Groton.
