Any Plans For The Holidays?

Any Plans For The Holidays?
I put in for the week of Christmas off at work and realized that i had to take two weeks off or was going to lose some vacation time. I could not see myself sitting home for two weeks in the middle of winter and wanted to go somewhere warm. So I booked a trip to the Cayman Islands leaving on Christmas morning at 6:00 am and getting there at 12:50 pm. I want to walk on snow in the morning and on snow white sand in the afternoon.
We have not been on vacation for about two years now and this will be the first time we have taken this type of a trip. We did go to Aruba on our 25th wedding anniversary seven years ago, but I go laid off right before we went and could not get the money for the trip that was already paid for refunded so we went. I was a real cheapskate the whole time I was there.
I booked a fairly reasonable priced hotel about 100 yards from the beach and the flight was not that bad. Did not get an all incluive package this time, but the hotel has free breakfast and we got a room with a kitchen. So we pig out at breakfast, fix a light meal in the room once and eat out once each day.
We had our gift exchange with the three grown kids and their families yesterday so the timing was perfect. I might miss the Steelers game next Sunday, but if I can find a place to watch it in the Cayman Islands I will be there.
I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!!

RE: Any Plans For The Holidays?
Just got back from the Cayman Islands and what a fantastic place. We stayed at a place called the Sunshine Suites and it was great. Had to walk across the street (about 100 yards) to get to the beach, but the rooms were about $200 a night cheaper (about 1/2 price) than the ones on the beach. I will save $200 a day any day to walk across the street. Plus the place was about as nice, friendly and quiet as you will find.
That drving on the left hand side of the street with the driver on the right side of the car sure takes some getting used to though. I rented asmall car(a Dahatsui sp??) and it was fine, but it sure felt good to get into my Volvo at theairport when we returned though. I drove that little car for three days though and filled it up with 5.5 gallons of gas. Must have got about 50 mpg I'm guessing.
God willing I will be back there again nextyear around the same time.
