Default Does anyone here know anything about maximas?

I know this is a volvo board but need help with 2001 se maxima. Having problem with high rpm about 2000 when at idle. Replaced idle control valve and thought problem was corrected ran good for four days. Now It runs WAy up then back down just up and down up and down. Any one have any thoughts on this? Thx

Also check the throttle boby for excessive build up. It may be throwing the TPS off.

worked at nissan for 6 months. what are the trouble codes that you have ? mafs always went bad and caused a number of issues.... sounds like you could have a bad intake gasket as well.. or just a vacuum leak in general... lol.. fyi.. i know there is a nissan forum , and you might be better looking there... when i worked on nissans regularly i used to be on them all the time... and dont know when but they went to an electronic throttle body.. set a code P0507 or P0570.. and the only way to fix was a idle relearn with consult..

CEL is not on they cleaned throttle body when new ICV was installed All hoses seem to be good. I disconneted the MAF sensor and the rpm dropped way down but RPM was still running up
and down but no where near as much.

Just now noticed that when you put car in drive the rpm will hold steady at about 1200rpm no bouncing up and down which is way to high but it will idle steady Put the car in park or netural and it goes crazy up and down on the rpm. Would a bad maf sensor cause this?

It could I have seen MAF sensor do very weird stuff to cars.
I have seen it stop a car from running to messing the idle up to making it run like a clogged cat.
There is many things it can do to mess up a car.
