Default Maxima.org kinda sucks...

I have this Nissan that I'm trying to get fixed and posted a few messages on maxima.org. Those guys kinda suck, I am not getting no where on that site. They have not told me anything I havn't figured out on my own.

Also, the Maxima sucks!!! They could have made it a little harder to remove a plug or fuel injector. Difficult for no reason.

The VG30 is a really compact engine, designed originally to be stuffed into the 300ZX, so it's a bit of a bugger to work on.
I don't know much about Maximas, but have maintained a Skyline and a Pulsar in the past. What's happening?

well rspi, maxima.org is a completely different crowd compared to a volvoforums, let's just say they're a little "young" and majority of them you'd bump into on the street are no better... don't mean to offend any maxima owners on this site.

Well, one of them just got an eye full from me Just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm to stressed to put up with to much.Well I figured out that the car is missing at #1. It's getting spark but not firing, probably not getting enough fuel to the chamber. Turns out that these cars, along with a few other Japanese cars have problems with the wires going to the injectors. Also, this car has been sitting for several months. A 87 year old lady had it & her family finally stopped her from driving (thank God). It seems to also have a small oil leak at the back side of the valve cover. The tough thing is that the manifold will have to be removed to get at the injector. I'm hoping that the injector is just a little clogged and will clear itself with some premium & some lucas injector cleaner.Other than that, something is wrong with the stereo. It has the bose system & when I turn it on the system has a loud buzz. I can hear the radio under the loud buzz but the buzz is to loud to keep the radio turned on.

Stereo buzz is usually an amplifier or power supply problem. Injector cleaner + good thrash works great on dirty, poorly maintained injectors. Oil leaks, well, gotta go after em.
I doubt the manifold will be a big hassle to remove, and it would be a good time to check everything else under there.

Thank Typhoon. See, you're not so grumpy.

Back to the Maxi Pad website... Those guys are still not answering questions. They create more confusion with their responses, maybe on purpose. Trying to seem smart or something. I guess EGO has run a muck over there. They 1/2 answer a question and generate a response to create 2 more questions. They must like rabbit trails.

Nah, that's just what you end up with when no one on a forum knows anything. The answers will all be rote learning and responses they've read about something in the past, no actual experience.
Seen it before on forums, oddly enough, on a local Nissan forum too! Maybe it's Nissans?
Anyway, perserve with the Maxima, they are excellent vehicles.

Sadly most car forums are like this, they think that with 100+ posts they know everything.

I think so as well. My neighbor has over 320,000 on his Maxima. I think it's a '98 model. I hope this family will keep it for a while.

Yeah, the Maxima is well worth persevering with. I think Nissan is Japan's best car builder at the moment, their engines have been the best for a very long time. I had an RB30 in my old 88 Skyline, the thing idled so smoothly you could rest a cup of water on the rocker cover.
I feel your pain working on a tightly packaged V6 too, this is one of the cars I own:

I just did the timing belt, 5 hours. And to replace rear bank spark plugs, upper intake has to come off. But the engine and car makes it all completely worth the effort.

LOL yeah, has a remote reservoir.
I try to keep it clean, it's the newest car I've ever owned. We bought it two years old, half the cost of new with 27k kms on it (16k miles). It's had synthetic fluids since we bought it, I am hoping to get 300k kms (200k miles) out of it, maybe more.

Got the Maxi insured and took it out on the road yesterday. It was running pretty strong with #1 missing. After about 15 minutes of driving it opened up and now it's hitting on all 6.

The struts are shot, it needs aligned, I have to fix the oil leaks and I need to check on the stereo.

Progress, it's all about progress...

A good thrashing often fixes old people's cars!

Finally got finished with that Maxima and gave it to the family that needed it. While on the way home (they were dropping me off) I noticed that it was running cold (always something with old cars). I assume the t-stat is stuck or broken open so I'll have them swing by the stealer and pick one up so I can replace it.

Other than that everything else went pretty good. I could not get the stereo to work nor the cruise but everything else is great. The AC is colder than both my 850's.

As for the Bose stereo, that is CRAP with all caps. The system is set up to have a power amp at each speaker and the story goes, the blow all the time so no one tries to fix them anymore.

Now to focus on my 850 wagon.

Nah, we don't. We just think it's kind of disrespectful to come onto our forum asking questions on how to repair said car, getting a proper, complete response, and then running off to your home forum and talking about how nothing was accomplished, and how we're a bunch of complete morons.

Thanks for the compliment, though.
