My refrigerator is on the fritz. The freezer works but it is not transfering cold air into the refrigerator. Turns out the newer refrigerators (frost free models) have a heater & thermostat in them. If one of those things go bad it will not keep ice from forming behind the freezer wall. Once enough ice builds up back there it will stop the transfer of cold air to the frig.

I need to figure out how to test the heater to see if it has burned out. The guy at the applicance part store said that I can ohm the heater to see if there is any resistance or something to tell if it's the heater element or not. I have an ohm meter that I do not know how to use. I blew the fuse in it when I was trying to test my alarm stuff in my 850. I did something wrong and blew the fuse.

Do we have any refrigerator repair people here?

Well, I have since repaired my ohm meter (replaced the fuse) and tested the heater element (I think it's good). So, there are 2 other parts that can be bad:
1. The heater thermostat.
2 The heater timer.

I decided to go with the thermostat, it was the cheaper of the two parts and the most likely to go bad. I thawed the box, replaced the heater thermostat, and put it all back together. If the replaced part was the problem, I'll be good to go. Sad thing is, it takes 2 weeks to find out the results.
