Default Want to become a mechanic

I used to work in a shop as a window tinter. Now I have this really good IT job. But, I realize I miss the shop atmosphere and the outside and I want to become a mechanic. I have a couple of questions:

If I'm a mechanic, can I make at least $35,000 a year?
Do I have to worry about lay offs?
Is there an online school to become mechanic cert? I work 12 hour shifts and there's no way I cango to school.

Why don't you try applying at a few local shop as an apprentice. Get a feel to see if that's what you want to do and gain some knowledge while your at it.

Online school? Are you serious becasuse you can't be.

To become a mech you have to have hands on knowledge. How are you going to get that from an online course?

I second that. Spend as much time as you can to get a realistic imagination of what you might do for the next 5 years. Mechanic work is not the same as window tinting.
