I had my outdrive completely rebuilt a year ago and due to other problems I was chasing it did not get used last summer. And a new shift/throttle control was installed at the helm. And new shift cable. It shifted into gear just fine during some testing at the dock last summer.

This spring I am getting things ready for the boating season and it will not shift into F or R. Push the center button to disengage the shift and I can move the control lever to rev up the engine RPM.

Pull the cover on the outdrive remove shift cable and I can shift it with my fingers. I can also move the shift control at the helm.

Reconnect the shift cable and I can shift it at the control lever at the helm.

I hate when I don't find a reason why something does not work then it starts to work without me fixing anything.

Stiff from not being used in 6 months?
