Won't shift out first

I have a 1989 240 with 120k mile that wont shift out of 1st gear, it will after about 5-10 minutes and then shift fine.
I checked the fluid and it is fine and full.

Usually that is the tranny going bad.

Hold on a second!! Mine did that (last year at this time) The little kick down cable was caught on something up on the top, unhooked it and it shifted fine. Check that out. D
