1997 850 R Wagon for sale (with pictures)
Hello,
My wife and I have decided to sell our 97 R Wagon with 181,000 miles. We love our car but need a truck so it is time for it to go to someone that is a better fit. It is currently in Bend Oregon where we live. We have owned the car for four years and bought it from a family friend who took wonderful care of the car and was part of the original owner family. That family lived in Pasadena Ca and took it to the same Volvo mechanic for its entire life. All recommended service was performed on the car until it came to us. All service since has been performed by me and a friend of mine who is a certified Volvo mechanic. The paint is shiny and in great condition, with rock chips on the front and a couple of small nicks on the rear bumper. There is a small dent on the rear right quarter panel above the wheel with no paint loss. All original clear coat is still in place and we keep it clean and waxed regularly. The Volan wheels are in good shape with some scuffs, and fitted with Continental Extreme Contact 205/45 R17 tires with 85% of tread left on them. The interior is in great shape as well with some wear on the drivers seat, steering wheel, and shifter, and almost none on the other seats. Of course there is wear on both the inside and out, but for the age this car is in wonderful shape. All accessories work and the car is loaded with all options that were available. The heated seats take a little while to warm up, but they do work. The car even has the original head unit with a functional CD player, even the speed sensitive volume works. All speakers were replaced a couple years ago with Alpine/Infinity speakers. The turbo was replaced with a 16t and three inch down pipe, the engine runs strong and gets 27 mpg on the highway. The car lived most of its life in the Los Angeles area and then in Bend Oregon where it is currently so no rust whatsoever. We had planned on rebuilding the suspension, so we have a complete Kit to replace all suspension parts with the exception of shocks. This $700.00 kit comes with the car. within the past 10,000 miles we have replaced all four of the rotors and pads, replaced the seals on the oil dip stick shaft, and rebuild the PCV system. Timing belt was replaced at 135,000. About 3,000 miles ago we replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires, fuel filter and air filter along with a transmission flush. This car has many years left of service left in it if taken care of properly. The only section of the car that has been repainted is the front bumper when we had it replaced after my friend hit the curb (5mph). We replaced the front bumper with an OEM R bumper and had it painted with PPG Arctic White with clear coat. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.
