AQ130 and 280 OD SP for Sale complete or considering separating
I’ve owned this much loved engine for 5 years but I’m deciding to upgrade to a bigger engine. I'd prefer to be sell complete, inc 280 Out drive, Throttle Controller, cables, gauges, Trim Switch and anything else I find that belongs to it but I'm also considering separating.
It has proven to be typical of the Volvo AQ series for strength and reliability. Since I’ve owned it, it's had the exhaust manifold replaced, water pump re-machined and kitted, the thermostat replaced and engine has been serviced annually.The out drive was completely stripped, serviced and replaced and has proven bullet proof ever since.
The whole package has never let me down in 5 years. The only reason I’m changing is I’ve bought a V6 Merc upgrade to test my boat with more power. It's a complete operating change over package with nothing missing for the right person.
It's in the process of removal at the moment and the engine will be mounted on a pallet so it can be fired up for the buyer. I even have the two original owner manuals for it from its original owner from new.
It also comes with two props. I run a 15X17 on it and the spare is a 15X15 for low down grunt for skiing etc. The lift motor has just been completely rebuilt with a brand new worm drive nut. I had the lift nut custom machined up as I discovered they are as rare as rocking horse Sh*t when I went to replace the old one but even that method cost a small fortune. It has only lifted the out drive about a hand full of times since it was rebuilt and refitted.
I have it in a 5.5 meter boat. With the 15X17 prop it cruises at around 21 knots @ around 3,700RPM and can make around 31 knots at max RPM of around 4,800. I average around 600ml of fuel per km over a whole day at all combined rev ranges.
Inspection Welcomed. All offers considered. I'm looking for $2500 complete but will negotiate separation prices if requested. Will send pics to anyone that requests them.
I also have a V8 lower gear set (1:1.61) with matching pinion gear if anyone is looking for one. It was a brainy idea I had several years ago to put a V8 in the boat but that idea went out the window long ago. The unit is rare and in very good condition. It owes me $300.
