AQ130 waterpump?
I have a older AQ130 and am having trouble getting water through the motor when I run it with the hose hooked up in my driveway. There is a waterpump on the motor but is that the only thing pulling the water up from the lower unit? I am new to boating and don;t know a whole lot about the workings of the cooling system. Should the water pump be primed before I run it?
Howdy nharms,
Has this got a 280 leg on it? If so when you run the motor connected to the hose, you need to notice there is two points on one of these legs for water pickup. (The two vents on either side AND a hole at the very bottom).
If you have connected via the side pickups using "ears" or something similar, you need to block off the small hole at there very bottom of the leg or the engine will run hot or possibly over heat badly if run for to long.
If you don't block of this hole the water runs straight back out this hole right under where you are feeding the leg from, instead of being pumped up through the engine.
Just remember to unblock it again if you are taking the boat out or running it in a barrel of water.
