Smile New Volvo owner, my 93 240

I bought a '93 240 today. I've never owned a Volvo, or a car this old but I'm so excited. The car was sitting for a year after it got hit when the previous owners had it. But we put a new battery in it and it runs great. I've driven it all over central Maine today and it didn't have any problems. Of course, the side if heavily damaged and I will need to find a replacement rear door and rear quarter panel, but I'm excited to restore this car and have it ready for an inspection sticker.

Hello neighbor I live in Maine too. Are you going to be able to do your own body work?

This is a 93 we just got and currently doing a restore on it now. Wish I would have held on to the red car I would have let you come over and cut off what you needed. It had no floorboards and could not be saved.

Yes I do plan on doing it myself with help from a friend. I just need to find the parts which is difficult. Online parts like a door is super expensive, and the rear-quarter panel is hard to find. I have just been calling junkyards and asking them what the have. After I get the parts I need, everything else is easier.

Check craigslist they are there are always parts cars popping up and not many people are in need of a rear 1/4 panel. I see couple of them on there now.

note that rear quarter panels are welded to the body, they aren't like front fenders that are bolted on. Judging from your picture, you'll need the wheel arch piece behind the quarter panel, too.

at a JY, you'll need an angle grinder with a cutoff disk (and a suitable power supply, like a gasoline compressor or generator) to remove those.
