I have a 2013 Volvo XC60, SI6 3.2l engine, FWD, 198k miles. I started getting a rattling sound in the engine when applying the gas pedal, most distinct when in reverse. I can produce the sound by holding down the brake and pressing the gas. Attached is a recording of the sound and video of me moving around the engine.
I sounds like something loose, but I can't see anything. I'm open to ideas of what to try next.
Also, I'm getting p0430/0420 error and need to pass inspection. Thoughts?
A common noise is caused by a sagging front of engine (right side) engine mount. The mount sags and the square pad hits the black part of the top of the mount. Google 31257674 for a photo of the mount - Volvo forums is not posting pictures today.
You cat efficiency codes are common with this engine - unfortunately it usually takes new converters (which are the exhaust manifolds on your engine) to solve those codes
