I'm sure the 850 dogged this one but it is still a great ad.

 

Glad I came across this post. That 740 ad sure brought back memories. My Dad had a 740 Turbo as a company car back in the mid 80s, and he used to let me use it at night and on weekends. That was when kids were tuning those early 80s cars and dang that 740 would fly. He's gone now, but he would have killed me if he knew how hard I drove that thing on the weekends.

 

I realize that this is an older post but I can't help but say that I was once driving downtown in kennesaw square and I literally watched a girl in an old Volvo sedan go air-born over these really long and steep railroad tracks. I will never forget that. The tracks are right in the middle of the square and from the side she went on, it really is for a moment there about a 45 to 50 degree incline. If you don't take it slow you will really mess something up. I wish I had a video of that and of my laughter after that because I about pissed my pants.

 

I went airborne with a Honda Accord once. I was driving on a road that I was not familiar with in the Raleigh NC area. Went around a curve and there was a set of train tracks. Over the tracks and into the air I went. When the car landed I must have been on the brakes because it spun out and stopped before any damage was done. LOL Kind of scary.

In the 740 GLE I had, I could do a 360 in the street and keep going in the same direction it was so controllable. I'm looking for another 740 do mod.
