I was driving in 2nd gear in my 97 850R sedan and I accelerated pretty fast to go into 3rd and noticed when I was accelerating I saw a flashing light on my dash when I stopped accelerating it went away, I have no idea what the symbol was and I’m too scared to accelerate hard again incase it’s messing something up , if someone can tell me what the light means that would be great

 

really depends on which light - if its the check engine light its telling you misfires were detected and you need to check the wires/plugs/rotor and look for possible fuel trim issues (ie intake air leaks etc). If its the coolant level warning, it means you are getting low on coolant and the acceleration sloshed the coolant enough to set off the light. if its a yellow up arrow, its the upshift indicator so you need to check you are in D and the W / Tracs buttons are set correctly
