Hi,

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 Wagon with the premium stereo. I thought that meant 8 speakers: two on the dash, two in the front doors, two in the back doors, and two in the rear column at the back of the car. Curious, I took off the cover of the rear-most speakers and, surprisingly, I found nothing, just a space with a wire.

So, does that mean that the premium sound system only comes with 6 speakers or did something else happen. to replace, what can I do? I don't want to make any further modification of the sound system just yet, so is it hard to find volvo replacement speakers for the very rear?

Well my sons 850 is a sedan not a wagon but it has 8 speakers (2 dash, 2 front doors, 2 rear doors, 2 back of rear seats). I would think that yours came with 8 speakers. Most likely they blew a speaker and just removed them. Check on ebay. I see Volvo speakers on there every now and again.
