Default ‘82 heater not working

My 1982 245 GLT heater stopped working mid drive. Pulled out of my driveway and was doing solid for 10 or so miles and then stopped. Still blows air like a champ, just not hot air. Not overheating, and temp gauge works fine. What could this be other than heater core? I dont feel like taking my entire dash apart if possible. ;(

Before you go tearing the dash apart you might check your heater control valve. It's located just inside the center console by the firewall up near the gas pedal. Remove the drivers side center console kick panel to gain access.

If the cooling system (stuff in the radiator) is low - the first thing that stops working is the heater (no longer gets hot) because the heater hoses are high up on the firewall. Engine and radiator can still be 1/2 full and circulating, but coolant won't reach the heater hose outlets. Temp gauge might not show too hot. (a heater core is not going to fail in the manner you have described)

A 240 does not have a low coolant warning system - what's the coolant level?

coolant is halfway between min & max, that is a sufficient amount of coolant correct? If so should I consider bleeding the air out it my cooling system?

Air is self bleeding. (as long as it's still plumbed as designed with a small hose going to the middle of the radiator and a bleed hose coming out of the top of the radiator) Coolant level is good. The slding temp control opens and closes the heater control valve. As another has mentioned - check to make sure that valve is opening and closing. I suppose a clogged heater core is possible on a 40 year old car - I have heard of them but have never seen one myself.

Replacement of the heater core is a very large job - so make it be something else.

"..... so make it be something else". Got a big smile on that one. Wish that was doable on other things, too.
