Default 1 headlight wonder

so the other day i was driving behind my friend, he called saying 1 of my headlights was out, then he said it just turned back on, i checked it later and it was a little loose so i tightened it and it worked for a couple days, then last night it wouldnt

just the drivers side low beam is out, both high beams, corners and turns all work. the bulb is ok, it works on the other side if i switch them.

i tried putting some grease in the socket with no luck.

any ideas? if it were the relay wouldnt both low beams not work?

'90 240 wagon btw

the relay, which is up by the headlights, the low beam circuit actually is wired back to the bulb-out sensor behind the dashboard, and there it splits and goes to the left and right headlight.

at the high/low 'step' relay, pin 56B takes a grey wire to pin 6 of that bulb-out-sensor... pin 2 of the BOS is a blue wire to the left lowbeam, and pin 7 is a blue wire to the right low beam.

drawing shows no connectors in between the bulb out beercan and the headlights, but who knows?

it also could be the ground wire at the headlight bucket, each side is grounded separately, to a ground on hte inside of the fender. looks like the left ground is near the relay/positive terminal mounting bar. the ground wires are black.

thanks for the reply, the ground is good, so do you think it is the relay? the blue wire between the relay and driver light is in good condition

there is no blue wire between the headlight high/low step relay and the headlights. there is a grey wire from the relay back to the bulb-out-detector under the dash, then 2 blue wires from the bulb-out thing forward to the two headlights.
