Default 1976 Fuel distributor rebuild.

Hi to everyone. I'm new here. My family bought the 76 245DL new, it has 67000 miles and has been in the shed for many years. I'm going to go through the entire fuel system and was thinking rebuilding the fuel distributor is necessary. Any thoughts on this? I've looked on eBay at kits, but read about leaking distributor after rebuild. I would like you to know what you guys think.

rebuilding CIS fuel distributors is a very delicate art that requires differential pressure gauges and such... its nothing like rebuilding a carb where you just dunk all the parts in carb cleaner, rinse, then reassemble with new gaskets, and tweak the idle and jets. you need clean room conditions.

I wouldn't even dream of touching the insides of the fuel distributor without Bosch's book on K-Jet/CIS systems.

this book is explains the design and theory, but goes nothing into repair.

here's someone's howto on CIS from a 1980's mercedes 6 cylinder, for an idea of how intricate these are.

Looks fairly complicated. I wouldn't attempt unless you have a full understanding of what you are getting into. The car may never run again.
