240 DL series 1976 Volvo has been having issues starting. I took it to local Volvo dealer for assistance.
after having it for 2 months, they got back to me with the diagnosis (see attached).
it basically comes down to a bad ignition box (this is what they think).
in the past, I have had to jiggle the leads coming out of it, and it would start.
they’re saying the box is near impossible to locate for replacement.
ideas?
the car was my grandfather’s and has just over 100,000 miles on it.
Check for spark at the plugs while cranking. You should also see a spark if you monetarily ground the low side of the ignition coil with the engine stopped and the ignition on. I realize most of this is redundant but I believe worth checking.
From the dealer's results sounds like the engine may be flooding. Check the air meter plate for free movement.
