Default 1981 GL Won't Start After it Rains

I have a 1981 GL that spent the last 26 years being garaged and now is parked on the street. It may fail to start or stay running after it has rained. Last year it wouldn't start at all after the first rain of the year and the mechanic said it was the seals on the fuel injectors. Now it will start after it drys?

We live in Southern California so rain isn't really a problem until winter.

Thanks

When it is dry, and the car is running, get a spray bottle of water, and mist the injector seals. Does the engine respond with poor idle, or stay the same. If it responds and the idle goes bad, or the engine is affected in any way, the seals might be bad.
If not, it may be your MAF. The MAF will dump in more fuel if the air is cold, or humid. After it rains, the mist from it will trick the MAF into thinking it is way cold, and pour in the fuel, so much that it soaks the plugs. You may try and unplug the MAF, clean the spark plugs, and see if it starts.

If you search in the 240 forum "mass air flow sensor" you should come up with descriptions of how to get to it. GOOGLE 1988 MAF sensor pics and you will see what to look for.
