Default 1983 240 fuel relay maybe, maybe not

hi,
I was driving home the other night in my '83 240 DL wagon, and all of a sudden the oil light went on and I lost all acceleration. I got off to the side, and the engine stalled. It turns over but doesnt' catch. I tried jumping the fuses to see if my fuel pump would go, and the jump seems to indicate that it's the fuel pump relay. So i opened it up and discovered I have no green six pin relay, instead there's two white 5 pin relays. I replaced those, but it still didn't start.

So the question is, am I missing something and those two relays are not related to my fuel pumps? What else could it potentially be? The fuses seem ok. Both the intank and main pumps were replaced with used parts two years ago.
thanks
tom

older 240s had 2 separate relays instead of the later double relay.

that said, me thinks its time to do some troubleshooting with a volt meter.

When I test the fuel pump with a power probe I can turn it on . I can chase the wire back to the fuse panel and even to the control module . Don’t know what turns on the pump which key power.

the two relays (or two halves of the later single relay), one part comes on with ignition power, and provides power to the ECU itself while the other relay/half is told to turn on by the ECU when it senses engine rotation via the hall sensor (or CPS crank sensor on later cars), and that 2nd relay/half is what powers the fuel pump.
