I have a horrible grinding sound coming from the passenger side rear wheel. Not the bearings, not a rock or anything jammed in there. Will a later model axle fit an '83 turbo?

Same question on other bits and pieces, need to replace a turn signal housing and a few other smaller things.

 

before swapping entire rear axles, I'd take the wheel and brake rotor off, and verify the problem actually is inside the axle and not something like the drum parking brake thats inside the rotor.

tail lights changed a few times during the 240's 20 years of production, the ones that look identical to what you have should be compatible.

so thats obviously different. I found pics of US model 1981 and 82 models that looked the same as the 83, but this 1978 is obviously different...

 

Thanks for the reply. I think we have exhausted all possibility of bearings and brakes. Hoping to figure it out this weekend.
Also, found the front turn signal i needed.
