Default 1984 Volvo 242 panels

Does anyone know of a good supplier for the door skins, front and rear panels. Need to replace due to rust. Volvo only has 110K and worth restoring. I think the 242 DL uses the same body as the 260 GL. I'm researching Skandix and Strandberg and wondered if there were any others out there worth calling. Didn't find any thread on the forum on this.

242 denotes a TWO door car... A 260 is a normally a FOUR door. What do you have?

If you are looking for "skins" this will include a lot of labor as well. Much better way to go would be to just get entire doors. Here, in the west, there are still unrusted cars in the junk yards. Two doors are not as common as four but still not that rare...

Maybe I should have stated a 262 if one exists, but I do have the 242 two door. Can you provide a few yards I can call?

There is really no 262; the Bertone model was that, technically, but it had a lower roof line than the regular 242, so it wouldn't work.

For a Volvo that old you have to go to a PickNpull type self service yard, or Volvo specialty place.

Try the Pick N Pull website, bet they have the doors somewhere but they won't ship.
Try CarPart.com

are you in Northern California? There's a volvo-only wrecker in the Rancho Cordoba area near Sacramento. they maintain an extensive inventory of parts they strip off volvos.

New England, so that would not be possible for me. I went online and found this place in Rancho Cordoba. Would that be the one?

Go to turbobricks.com, and PM a guy called Redwood Chair (Turbobricks Forums). He is always stopping by yards and pulling stuff. Sells for a good price, and is an excellent shipper. 242 parts are hard to come by these days. so good luck to you.

Thanks, just found him and sent a PM. Will let others know if I have any leads. I did research Volvo Centrum in CA and they have the front fenders ($125 ea.) and doors ($100 ea.) but they don't ship. Have no idea on how to have them freight shipped to CT? Also, autodisassemblyvolvo.com in GA has the fenders but no doors. I could drive to Atlanta and pick them up but still, no doors. That's where I am so far. Thanks for your lead.

I just realized you are looking for sheet metal parts. Redwood chair doesn't mess with body parts like that.
There is a company in Sweden that has new sheet metal. I can't remember the name though.

Actually replacement fenders and doors preferred, but if I can't get the doors, then sheet metal skins will work. The rear quarter panels will most likely need the sheet metal since the overall consensus is not to mess with replacing the whole 1/4P.

Thanks everyone, I was able to find doors and fenders in GA and CA. I'll call a few freight companies to see how much to ship. Thinking of Old Dominion Freight Lines.or Southern Freight out of Atlanta.
