Hi all,

I believe, from looking at my (leaking) steering rack, that mine is a ZF type rack. This company comes recommended, but the rack shown on their site looks slightly different to mine. I'm referring to the length of the driver side gaiter, and the casting around where it mounts to the cross-member.

Yours is ZF the website is showing cam gear

 

our 87 had the wrong bellows from the factory so I misidentified it when ordering inner tie rod bits. Caveat Emptor!

 

Anyone have any pointers out there for getting the u-joint off of the input shaft or the steering column? I started my rack replacement today and all was going smoothly until I tried disconnecting the u-joint. Got both bolts loose and it just won't let go.

 

Hi: the steering rack on my 1991 Volvo 240 is leaking and I want to rebuild it. Has anyone out there done that? I will use a Volvo mechanic to do the job.
