1987 240 DL auto dies when shifting and pressing pedal
hi guys.
searched the forums/the group and every situation was a bit different. car starts and idles fine, but sometimes dies when shifting into reverse/drive and always dies when depressing the pedal in reverse/drive. Any tips? the car is stuck and can't go anywhere. also just installed a new exhaust yesterday too. Some options that I have seen from other posts include idle control valve, fuel pump, and vacuum hose. can anyone point me in the right direction? the car is essentially stuck because it can't move.
Thanks again for any help!

It was fine before I changed the exhaust (catback). When I changed it, I drove it a couple of miles and everything was normal. The next day, the engine died instantly on acceleration. I am going to remove the catback and see if that does anything. Maybe some backpressure from incorrectly installed exhaust caused some issues?
