1987 240 wagon trailer hitch
Does anyone know what trailer hitch will fit a 1987 240 wagon? Mine did not come with one and none of the junk yards around me have any volvos with them on. I was curious if anyone has bolted a different trailer hitch assembly on? Or close matches?
thanks,

I've always used Drawtite hitches, they still sell new ones that fit 240s, also for 7/9's sedans and wagons. afaik, each of these is a different hitch. hitches are too critical to mess around with, $150 or whatever for a new one with new hardware that bolts right up is fine by me. you'll definitely need a 1/2" socket set and torque wrench. if your 25 year old car has never had a hitch, you'll want to chase the threads out before you try and install the hitch. I used a knife to scrape out a bunch of the undercoating from the threads (the 4 'nuts' are captive welded into in your rear subframe), sprayed some WD40 up them, and ran one of hardened bolts that came with the hitch reciever up and down each hole a couple times before I even tried to install the hitch, and it went a WHOLE lot easier. I forget if you need to trim the rear valance on a 240 to fit these, you certainly do on a 740/940.
I have a receiver hitch and ball from a 92 960 in CT. The receiver subframe is still attached and has the multipin connector. (I don't know if that's any good). PM if you're interested.
