Default 1987 Volvo 240 turn signal arm broke off

Hi, turn signal arm on 87 240 came out of the socket and can't get it back in. Has anyone had this happen? Can I repair this without removing steering wheel. Thanks in advance for any advise.

sounds like it is broke. You don't have to remove the wheel, but you may want to remove the top and bottom trim panels for easy access.
The arm should be held with two screws. It really does not pop in like you may think. You need to secure it first.

+1 I've never sen or heard of one coming loose...Seen 'em broken though. Pull the clam shell top and bottom immediately behind the wheel and all will be visible.
Tape will NOT work...

If it looks like Swifts, head to the yards. Or the dealer Switches, turn indicators, main and dipped beams, WIPER/WASHER. Fits: Volvo | VolvoPartsWebstore.com.

I had same problem. Can't find any 240 parts for it though; could I use a 262 as a replacement arm?

It will depend on the 260 you pull from. There were 2 or 3 variants of the turn switch produced. Basically, if it looks the same it should work.
