I have a 1988 740 and I would like to start putting some money into it body wise. however, i have been getting told that people would love to see results as far as engine upgrades. which dont get me wrong, engine upgrades is something i would like to do....but i would love just getting more of a faster response than anything. alot of time has gone into this car to keep in prestine condition and it has alot of family value to me.
so my question is....

what can I do to my car engine wise, to give it a cleaner, maybe yeah....a faster "giddy up" to it.....that wouldnt destroy my car completely?.... lol

 

A sport exhaust. I'm assuming it's not a turbo. A better intake filter system. It depends on how far you are willing to go.

 

Im not really sure what my limits are.

and yea, its not a turbo.
I've been told a turbo is the way to go, but im so scared to put one in lol
