Question 1988 740 Power Windows Trouble

Good day to you all! This is my first post! I have read all the other threads relating to power windows but have not found an answer!

I have trouble with all EXCEPT the driver side window on my 1988 740 GLE Sedan.

The driver side window works very, but the other three do not budge. When I activate the switch, whether from the driver side or the individual switches attached to each window, I can hear a slight "clicking" sound for about half a second. It is the same for all three windows (right front, left rear, right rear).

I replaced the power window relay but the situation has remained exactly the same.

I also took apart the switches and they all look super clean, mint condition.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help you might offer!

Did this start all of a sudden? Probably related to the main, master switch malfunction as it is quite unlikely for all three to do the same thing... I'd swap the main switch, see what happens.

It was already like this when I bought the car a few months ago. The previous owner, who had the car for a year, told me the problem already existed when he got it.

I removed the master switch the other day and it looks extremely clean, like all the other switches. Also, it does operate the front driver side window very well.

the power for the other three doors goes through the drivers door.

'Looks clean' means absolutely nothing to electricity, unless you're talking about actual switch contacts.

I ordered a new master switch and am waiting for it to arrive.

Do you have any other ideas?

use a volt meter and the wiring diagrams and go through it all, figure out whats wrong, instead of just throwing parts at it.
