i own a 1989 740 gl i recently blew the motor,the body is in great shape so i would like to purchase another motor.I have a buddy of mine that is willing to do the swap for me for a pretty cheap price,so i think the swap is worth doing.Do you think i should just keep the 1989 740 motor or try to update with a newer model?I am not looking for a swap that will take weeks of work i am just looking for a nice replacemnet....any info would help

 

there is no "newer motor" for that car... just another 2.3 volvo-... just get one from a wrecked car, 240, 740, 940...
