Sunroof- 1994 940 Wagon
Hello all. New to the boards & Volvo ownership. I've always wanted one & as of this past Saturday, I own one.
My sunroof does not work. The guy I got it from said that it never worked in the 4 years that he had it & never looked into it. When I push the switch nothing happened. I removed the switch & sprayed it with electrical component cleaner. Now the motor "acts" like it wants to work, but I still think that the motor is the issue. I took a video of it with my cell phone (3g2 format). VLC media player plays it fine. If you know of a program that will convert it to mpeg or wmv let me know. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

RE: Sunroof- 1994 940 Wagon
More info:
I removed 2 screws from the motor & when removed from the assembly the motor spins when the switch is pressed. When the motor dies does it stop working completely? If so, this would mean that the problem is not the motor & is something else. The motor seems in a bind when trying to open while engaged with the opening mechanism. Since it hasn't been operated in years, could it just be stuck shut? Any ideas what to do next? I found a sunroof motor at a junk yard for $50 & I don't mind buying it as long as I am fairly certain that the motor is the problem. But don't want to drop $50 on a part that won't solve my problem. Thanks.
