1989 Volvo 240DL Transmission Issue?
I purchased a 1989 240DL for my daughter. It started acting up, it drives fine then when it warms up it loses momentum and cruises to a stop. Engine works, when it cools down it drives again! Till it heats up.

Maybe the cat. Sometimes when they get old they obstruct the exhaust when hot. I hope it's not the cat, especially if you're in Calif.
Happened to me. Ran fine when cold but no power when warmed up.
But if the engines revs fine when warm it's probably the tranny like you say. Is this an auto tranny? If so check the fluid when warm and at idle. If dirty brown it's time for a tranny flush.

Check the air intake box thermostat for closed flapper in pre heat position.
Very hot air from pre-heat tube will cause the AMM/MAF meter to send false signal to engine ECU.
Will be too rich or too lean. Eventually causes meter failure.
Also, check codes, onboard diagnostic box near driver side strut tower under hood. Clear these if present.
Best of success,
Brandon
