Default 1990 740 B234 broken timing belt - damage?

My timing belt broke while driving about 10 mph. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to crank the engine again.
I know it is an interference engine, but given the slow speed, what are the chances of valve damage? If I inject compressed air with the piston at TDC, will that indicate which cylinders have damaged valves?
The car is a 1990 740 GLE wagon, 16 valve DOHC B234, automatic transmission.
Thanks for any help,

I've never seen a 16v motor brake a timing belt without bending valves...I can't see the advantage of predetermining which valves are bent...the head has to come off regardless...
