I've been having problems with my car starting for a few months. We thought it was the starter. Rocking it back and forth and pushing it in reverse a few feet always solved the problem. The car would start fine and run fine. Sometimes just putting it in gear then back in park would turn the engine over. But now......it won't start at all. It's been sitting for 5 days while we've tried to get it running again. We removed the started and got it checked and it's fine. We hear a "click click" from the ac relay when we try to start the car.....but the "helpful" folks at Volvo didn't know what I was talking about. Any sugguestions?

I would look at the PNP switch on the shifter assembly.

 

where can i find that?

 

If you remove the center console you can see in by the shifter. It pretty much mounts to the side of the shifter.

Will it start in Neutral? Sounds like its the neutral safety switch.
