Hey, a friend of mine is giving me his 1991 740, and it has the Girling Calipers in the front and the ATE in the rear, and it really needs new brakes. I was trying to find a definite way to figure out whether it has ABS or not. Any knowledge offered would be great.

 

The simplest way is to pop the hood and look on the driver's side in the proximity of the master cylinder. Brake lines run from the master cylinder to the ABS unit. The following pic is a 91 740T hit hard in the front w/ the hood off. If you save the pic to your computer and blow it up, you can plainly see the ABS controller up front opposite of the air box and w/ two brake lines running to it.
