1991 940 Cigarette lighter
Hi, my cigarette lighter is not working. Not needing to smoke, but I'd love to power some electronics while I'm driving. Anyone dealt with this?
Fuses are good.
Fuses are good.
Radio work? They're usually on the same circuit...also, take a look inside the socket...I've seen a good half inch of ash in there acting as an insulator. The socket only works w/ key in the run position. Use a test light and see if it's getting voltage. Pretty sure I have a good used socket if you find yours is getting power and still isn't firing up.

Thanks for the help, I'll see what happens.
according to my wiring diagram for a 92 740/940, the cigar lighter gets + juice from the ignition switch connection "X" (live in positions I and II), through fuse F14. its grounded to pin 3 of the rear window defroster switch then on to the main ground strip under the fuse/relay panel, which in turn is grounded to the dashboard ground block on the firewall.
note, if your 1991 940 is in fact a 940SE, its really a 960 and its wired somewhat differently. I don't have those prints.
