Default 1991 940 Power Seats

Hey Guys, Newbie here..

Bought a 91 940 turbo wagon for my son for his first car, 200+ mi. Car runs good, more on that in future posts.

Can't get the power seat (driver's) front to back motion towork. It was working - but something happened.Right now the seat is all the way forward, I need to get itto move back.

Can hear the seat motor clicking in, but seems to be stuck.

Is there a mech release that will bring the seat back?

How do I remove the entire seat for a full check?

Thanks for any help...

Sounds like a cable may have pulled out or gotten stuck. You may be able to take the seat out if the other controls work, like the one that moves it up and down. There are four bolts holding the seatin. Left front is behind a plastic plate. Have to disconnect the seat belt anchor too, which is on the left side of the seat behind the pocket where the controls are. Then have fun but be careful to maintain the alignment of the tracks, it could be a problem later. You can bench test everything, make sure it all works, pull the cables out, lube them, etc.

thanks tedv for the reply,

hopfully, tomorrow I can figure this out.

Pulling the seat seems like a pia - no room for access with the tools.

Will check in tomorrow...

Yeah, they are a pain if stuck in a certain position... If there is a way to move them manually I'd sure want to know about it... In my experience with a couple of seats that I took out, and just cleaned the mechanisms there was really nothing wrong-they were ok once put back together... Try moving the switch back and forth with the car running, also try whacking the seat motor (not too hard). I know, this last tip is probably imposible given the lack of space but sometimes a jolt will get them unstuck...
